GOE at Mao's lutz is terrible, I don't know if it's necessary to do it, she loses a point every time. No

when they first stood there and ready for taking pics 0:15
akko stood in front of Dai and Mao in front of Taka-->kanako was somehow confused since she was right all the time.
then they realized the order is not right then changed order...yuzuru was totally confused and kept going to wrong place
after re-arrangement the order is still wrong... lol!

[quote="polosatik"]GOE at Mao's lutz is terrible, I don't know if it's necessary to do it, she loses a point every time. No [/quote

! don't understand that either she has great flow in and out of the jumps, as well as height and ice coverage when she does it!

(by the way could anyone upload the FS and post it, i for some reason can't open the protocol and i really want to see it confused )

Many skaters got "e" with lutz tonight and GOE comparison:

Akiko 0.00
Mao -1.12
Haruka -0.98
Kanako -0.84
Risa -0.84

Drama!

Fuji TV didn't air Satoko Miyahara's FS tonight. Her TES is 65.59. I really, really want to see it, but chances is slim. Fuji TV is really useless. Disappointed

Yep, this is what I'm talking about. Let's wait for the video. But if it will keep going, I guess it's better to remove lutz at all. Suspect may be that only japanese panel of judges who were very strict to Mao,but anyway that's not a good sign.

yeah and the differences are too big, imo. For example Taka and Yuzuru both had an edge call on their 3F in the FS and they got a negative GOE of -0.42 and -0.65. And Mao got for her 3Lz -1.12... Neutral I didn't saw her lutz her Free Skate yet but, well, I don't understand why the wrong edge on a lutz is worse than on a flip. And Mao's lutz was well executed (apart from the wrong edge) too...

MAO Bawling Worship Worship Worship

2 weeks ago people were discussing about sending Mao to worlds without her competing at the nationals
and look what Mao accomplished today.
I'm speechless.

Japanese twitter is still exploding. I've been trying to catch up with all the comments using a translator
but it was impossible.
People can't stop congratulating Mao and admiring Mao's beauty, elegance, willpower, mental toughness....

Best Christmas Present EVER indeed to so many people!! queen

Mao got an underrotated on her tripple toe combo and on the 2l that she uselly does in combination! well that explains the low technical score!

i was also laughing at the confusion with the arrangement for the photos.. Very Happy and taka taking the matter to his own hands... heheheh..

Haruka shared the same situation with her since that is almost 1 point Sad maybe not as bad as Mao this time, but they also deducted her beautiful 3Lo of SP all the time since "the time from step to jump took too long". even this time there is still one judge gave her -1. GOE is something hard to argue Sad

Thank you! cheers Thank you!

I've noticed that coach Sato and Mao never hug when she comes from the ice (only with Kumiko). Is that a cultural thing? I'm not complaining just wondering. I do love the proud look on mr. Sato's face after Mao finished with her program. Like a proud grandpa. Wub

Actually Mao and Sato sensei did a big hug at 2011 4CC, which I still remember vividly, and at 2011 worlds, which I checked YT video. It looks they do not hug this season. I don't know why.

Mr. Sato confessed that when he was looking after Fumie Suguri, he was confused and embarrassed when Fumie hugged him in K&C out of joy and excitement. At first, he wondered how he should react to it as a male coach and later he got used to with it. He accepted that's Fumie. He said it was beyond imagination that a girl student hugs a male coach back then, and vice versa. Anyway, Mr. Sato got trained with hugs thanks to Fumie. Very Happy

Mr. and Mrs. Sato gave an interview to a figure skating magazine after he become Mao's coach. When the interviewer asked why Mr. Sato didn't give the rub & tap on Mao's back as he always did for Taka, Kumiko Sensei burst into laughter and said her husband would be sued for rubbing the back of a girl student. Actually, she was joking and she told that the rub & tap was started by Taka's mom and that's why it's only for Taka.

It may be because I remembered this story, when I saw Risa's coach run his forefinger over her back, actually from neck to back, last night, I felt yuck. Suspect I don't know what it meant and I don't remember he did it every time he sent her off the wall. But, it didn't look nice.

Congrats Mao! Woot!

Despite the popped jumps, Akiko does deserve to be in first for the LP since she technically did complete more triples. However, I think the judges were being a bit harsh on Mao here especially on her lutz and the 2nd loop on the combo which I didn't see anything wrong in real time. But oh well, she won in the end so it doesn't matter.
I love the smoothness, flow, and speed that I see in her skating now. I believe her basics have never been better and I have to give a lot of credit to Sato. Very Happy
