yaaaaaaay!!! WOW!

Interesting! WOW! If that's true I wonder what her solo jump in the short program is going to be? A 3S?

I think it will be either a 3F or 3Lo, this if she plans the 3-3 in the SP and not in the FS. Correct me if wrong, but I think you can repeat a jump when you execute it in a combo.

news on Mao, Kanako, and Haruka...

http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120209&content_id=26631348&vkey=ice_news

the only one I've read where they mention the altitude and how it's been affecting them...Mao says the jumps are easier for her to rotate in high altitude, but that she worries about her stamina...

Yes, I worry about that too, but I hope everything will turn out allright.

cherriee thank you so much! Daisies for you

Thanks Pochi for your kind words Love Hearts

I think we don't need to worry about Mao's stamina too much since based on report, she was always the last off-ice and didn't look exhausted.
The only time, I thought she looked tired at the end of program is 2011 worlds.
Based on vary source that Sato team has very tight schedule and she may have used to have so many daily practice.
I only hope she won't push herself too hard and can deliver a performance she can be satisfied with.

Ps. thanks god...finally we see something about other skaters.

Latest articles :

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20120210-00000012-mai-spo

It says that Mao announced that she 'would very much like to jump' her 3A in 4CC, and also mentioned that she had been focusing mainly on practicing her 3A after Nats. Although she will decide whether or not to include the jump after discussing it over with her coach Sato on the day of the competition, she also said that at this point she wants to include it.

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20120210-00000276-yom-spo

According to this article, Mao said eversince she arrived in Colorado Springs her 'jumps are getting better and better'. Here she also mentioned that she did a 3-3 in practice, and said she's 'planning do them' in the competition. However, note that she added the word 'ichiou(一応)' before she said she's planning to do a 3-3, which has the notion like 'for the present' or 'for the time being' in this case. Also in Japanese, we tend to use the word 'ichiou' when we're not totally confident nor sure of something.

On the whole...it seems as if while Mao is very eager to do a 3A, I have a feeling Sato may be thinking that succeeding a 3-3 is more important and should come first before the 3A. But in both cases, even if Mao will be risking URs, unless her conditions are extremely bad on the ladies competition days, I think maybe this time Sato will allow her to go for both 3A and 3-3, so to be able to adjust them perfectly before Worlds.

So, something real great might happen tomorrow! sunny

ETA:shikure, you're very welcome. I'm really fond of Taiwan, my husband is too. We hope we can visit there someday. And I love Cyndi Wang! It's very rare for me to be fond of a young musician thesedays...I really have almost totally no interest in J-pop, but I instantly fell in love with Cyndi when I saw her dancing in her promo vid for 'Honey'! The choreo was so cute, and she sang well as much as she danced! Believe me, compared to her AKB48 is nothing! Razz

Gahh, I am getting a bit nervous!! I hope the altitude doesn't affect Mao too much! pale

The 3As in practice were beautiful, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they get downgraded... No

But at least our Mao-chan is looking gorgeous and cheerful as usual! sunny

I just hope she can do two programs that she can be proud of! Yep! Cheering Cheering

And I am so THRILLED to hear that Taka-chan might possibly be there cheering Mao on. Too sweet! Hell, no!

All of you who are attending 4CC (jealous!), I expect a FULL REPORT of any Taka-Mao sightings!!! Yep! Thumbs up!

@ cherriee thanks for the starting order. That's very unusual for Mao to be skating first. On one hand, she'll be warm when she skates, but on the other hand, she'll have a little less time in the warm-up...

Eek, nervous...

GOOO MAO!!! cheers

When I saw that, I got a little nervous, but than I watched Mao's FS at 2007 GPF, where she skated total lights out despite going first Cheering

and Tatsuki Machida is right behind him, almost tied in points.

I might be the only one to think if it's really a good idea to do both 3A and 3-3 in the same program. I mean, both jumps need lots of power and with the altitude problem, she might get more tired than usual and I am afraid it might affect her other elements.

Somebody know more about Kanako ? she felt sick today due to high altitude ?

It says Kanako complained stomach pain and anemia during afternoon practice. She discontinued practice and got oxygen inhalation at back room.

I hope she will feel fine by tomorrow!! Daisies for you

This is why, they should come to Colorado sooner, or train at another place with high altitude, IMO. I too hope she'll recover in time for the sp.

Does Mao have any problems because of the high altitude? I hope she'll rock this competition, with or without 3A and 3-3!

Go Mao! Rockstar

Based on interview, everyone thought the high altitude made them jump higher and easier.
I think jet-leg may make it worse. you may not aware you are having jet-leg but your body knows.
so you may overwork when your body is totally exhausted, and that may happen two days after you landing.
hope them can rest more and don't over doing anything before competition.

Ok is this a joke?! Why no point deduction? Do you actually have to land on a butt to count as a fall? I don't get it, to me it was obvious as well, but then again I'm not familiar with ISU rules.

Apparently it depends on skater Mad

A fall is defined as:
“loss of control by a skater with the result that the majority of his/her own body weight is on the ice supported by any other part of the body other than the blades e.g. hand(s), knee(s), back, buttock(s) or any part of the arm.”
