Who was the tech specialist/controller? They were unbelievably harsh to all the skaters during both the short and the free. If they were the same for both, that explains a lot, but if they weren't, that kind of worries me.

What was his reason for Joubert not going for his FP?

He may have problem about his training but then why compete in COC ?
I think it's just unacceptable (unless you get injured) to quit in the middle of the competition. It's like one's skating, makes few mistakes and then suddenly stops and says 'going home. I'm not gonna spend my time continuing if I know I 'm not gonna win'.
I used to like Joubert so I'm quit shocked about this. Especially it's not the first time he's doing this.

I was shocked too because we met him around 11 and he looked quite well. The official reason for withdrawal as posted on the notice board is due to medical reason.

Our commentators said he had a gastrointestinal infection... Although he was at the morning practice he decided not to skate because he also had fever...! Wink In this case it's understandable but normally I would say that if you're healthy enough to skate your SP and practice you should also skate your FS... but well, it's his decision!
Thanks josling for your information. Now I want to know if Nan Song was seriously injured or not. I was sad when he was forced to withdraw due to a collision during the warm-up. I feel sorry for him.

Hi all! I'm very late in commenting here, but I just got home from a busy day. Whirly Thanks to everyone who posted links! I'm so happy for our Mao!!! cheers Boogie Love Hearts Her performance of Swan Lake was so beautiful, and I can't stop watching the step sequence—it's brilliant! (like many of you, I can't figure out how they gave that only a level 3...but oh well... scratch)

I feel that she's in a good place. She made some errors, but I think she has the right attitude, and let's see what the rest of the season will bring. Smile

That collision between Nan Song and Adam Rippon looked so painful. Shocked I hope he's all right.

Thank you, josling, for the info!

And according to Tony Wheeler at Flutzing Around, Nan Song both got a concussion and broke a tooth. Poor guy. However, if this had to happen, I'm glad that it happened in his home country. Can you imagine getting a concussion problem abroad and then having to go home before being fully recovered?

Ouch! Sad Thanks for the info. You're right, it is better that it happened close to home. Still, poor guy. pale

One thing I loved about Mao this weekend is that she seemed to have a lot more speed and energy in her skating than last season. Her ice coverage improved a lot. Smile Actually, I think they need to adjust the choreo a little at some points because of that, because Mao covers the ice so fast that she runs out of space to do her jumps. 3F-2L-2L was landed milimeters from the band, affraid I got a bit scared Mao would crash into it Sweatdrop

I'm happy she's taking things slowly, but already thinking about improving on her performance Thumbs up!

I also thought she had a lot of speed, but I'm worried about her jumps. I hope she feels better in the next event.

Thank you so much for the link roma!
Asahi tv didn't broadcast the ceremony even though our skaters won! Very Mad

wow, what will it take for them to broadcast a podium ceremony, then? a podium sweep? Question

Asahi TV has an extremely left winged newspaper (Asahi Shimbun) behind them, which is known to be connected with extreme left wing groups who hate our flag and national anthem, so maybe they wanted to avoid complaints from such people. It also seems Asahi TV will not broadcast the Gala either (they'll air it later on BS or CS maybe but not today)! Even Fuji TV changed their attitudes after they were bashed quite badly for not casting the medal ceremony when Mao and Dai won Worlds in Olys season. It's all politics, swan! But I really think it's an insult to the skaters, it pisses me off. And since I watched SA on CS, I'm not sure if our guys sweeping the podium was even enough for Asahi TV to air the medal ceremony too (correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing they didn't broadcast SA's ceremonies either). I have no choice but to watch Asahi TV to see GPS on my telly, but they really don't deserve to dominate the airing rights IMO. Very Mad

Is there a Japanese coverage video of Mao's FS uploaded online? That La Riserva HD video doesn't really look like HD quality. The very good HD quality SP video was from Japanese tv coverage. Also, I still haven't found video of Mao's gala. How did she do? I've only found Dai's gala video on twitter.

We should be able to see a video of the whole gala here in about 3 hrs from now...

http://mypremium.tv/stream/?id=1451&1318008597

Don't think there will be any high quality vid uploads from Jpn on Youtube for a while since Asahi TV hasn't announced any broadcastings of the gala in any of their channels, not even cable... Mad

So far everyone at Russian forums was blown away by Mao performance, and her PCS should be the highest . But we all share the same fears, Mao has a lot of troubles with her technique Sad Last season her jumps were better, inskate do you have any opinions about this? cause I'm really afraid Mao won't be even in top 5 with such low TES No
And what really pissed me off is that British eurosport commentators thought Yulia should have won, cause Mao has poor technique, and even her PCS is higher , it's still not right Suspect

I too was totally blown away by Mao performance, can't stop watching both her programs, I don't think you have to be worried polosatik, this was only the first competition of the season, and when you look at the competition and how many calls where given to everyone, it shows that the caller was really strict, and knowing Mao and hearing her interview she immediately noticed that too, i am sure she will make sure of it next time and attack it even more, and leave no room for any doubts!

Yes, she did 2f. But that's an exhibition, Mao probably too tired after the competition. Wink
