People are so sweet! And this is very unusual because the comments came from 2ch, a community fueled by hatred and sarcastic remarks.

Thank you for the link,

With all these comments, I hope Mao realizes how much we love and admire her

Awww, I love that they have collected soo many tweets from skaters, it was really fun to read.

now here is one tweet that made me breake into big laughter:
"Let's not forget Mao Asada she is a BEAST. Doing the triple axel that almost no female skater ever attempts"  Laugh

and here is few of my favorite twitts were this one:
Doug Mattis ‏@DougMattis Feb 20

"No disrespect to the #Sochi2014 medalists--congrats to them!--but my heart will be forever filled with memories of Mao Asada's triumph."
[i]
"@DougMattis this competition was ALL about Mao's LP.

Guys, try a Hola Better Internet extension for Chrome (or a Torch Browser - a Chromium-based browser with Hola already built in). After installing, a little orange firey smilie will appear at the end of the address bar. Open the website with streaming videos, click on the firey smilie and choose the appropriate country (Canada for CBC). Then reload the webpage. The video should be playing Smile(In the case of Torch Browser, you first need to turn the Hola extension on - there should be an on/off button visible after you click on the smiley face).
It works for me on Youtube, CBC, NBC, etc..  Thumbs up!

My local evening paper mentioned about Mao's 3A at GPF 2013 SP in an article on her single skate SP.  It said Mao's 3A got UR call because a tech caller from South Korea claimed UR while Amano ratified it.  The TS agreed to check the video and as a result UR call was given.

I'm not surprised. But Amano has always had a bias against Mao. He can't admit it's good even if his eyes tell him otherwise.

yes but this time Amano wasn't the culprit but the tes caller from south korea, which we already knew would be biased toward Mao  Rolling Eyes , but i'm glad to hear that Amano was against the call!

Wasn't Amano the specialist and the korean judge the assistant? Shouldn't he have more power? If he was against it, it would probably wouldn't have been called.

I think he may have been under pressure to not seem like he was protecting one of his own. That assistant person may file a complaint against him for disregarding her call, who knows

Well...this explains. After the team event, I saw some tweets of Amano's comments on team event in some Jpn news papers, it seems he thought the judging for team event was 'too strict'. At that time, I couldn't figure out how come Amano would write something like that while he was so strict with that perfect 3A at GPF. That was totally ironic. And I've always thought there's something fishy that Yuna got 'slightly' higher scores than Mao's GPF performance at Golden Spin.

Thanks for the link! Smile

Watching this again, it reminds me of 2010, and how everyone was dissing Mao's choice of Rach Bells of Moscow. 'How dark', they said.'How heavy and just too much for the delicate skater like Mao'.... And to some extent I get where they are coming from... it was dark, heavy and that's how Rach is. But in Japan Nationals, you can just see how each note, was like a rippling force, slowly gathering momentum until you have created a tsunami, strong enough to push back everything you know.

But it wasn't well received back then.

Fast forward 4 years, another Rach piece, another they say, of this heavy big music. But the thing is Mao matured even more, that it is more and more evident of her skating quality. Here I just keep seeing that fighter Mao, and I feel perhaps her desire to fight through eveything, to be the wonderful skater she is.

The front part of the video really broke me - 'wearing this blue dress, she was going to skate for gold, but now she is skating for pride and honor'
Many things in life isn't easy, but Mao thank you, thank you so much. I'm getting so incoherent, but truly, whats the measure of a champion? Is it by the medals? Or by that ever-burning spirit and passion.

Thanks for the CBC link. Even Kurt thought the 3-3 looked clean. The 3A landing was fine (just a bit tight), glad they realized that on the slo-mo.  Razz  Yea, but so agree with Kurt, these nitpicks don't really matter considering the performance we just witnessed.

I still think Carolina was robbed of OGM in my humble opinon.

Does anyone else think due to the ridiculous Russian scoring inflation, startting next season everyone else's scores will be hitting 70+ in SP, and 140+ in the LP regularly. And how unfair this is to the veterns like Mao, Caro, Yuna, + some others were doing 7 triple programs with much better artistry than Julia, Adelina, and Gracie, yet they were score measly 60+ SP and 120-130+ LP for years? To me this is a far worse FS tragedy than Yuna not winning another OGM.

Based on the inflation, Mao's 2007 LP should've scored 140+ even with the 2a-3t flub. And her Vancouver 2010 SP should've scored 77+

Mao's 2007 GPF performance also was stingily marked imo. It was a even more difficult program (one 3A and two 3-3). I just can't stand those who say the Mao got favors because she is from a big federation. Lol. She gets the least favors out of top skaters from the judges based on her PCS scores for great performances.

Most of the people in the figure skating community strongly insist that the gold should have been given to Yuna. However, I believe that instead of campaigning for OGM to be 'surrendered back' to her, a thorough review and examination should be done instead after this season to improve the current system.  For Adelina and Yulia (and even Gracie!!) to have PCS anywhere near the veterans who have skated clean programs is a mockery of the sport. I don't want to see more athletes be victimized again.  Evil or Very Mad
lol!  And you are like what? Some democratically elected representative to speak for the whole fs community? What is your source anyway? GoldenSkate?  ROTFLMAO  Yeah, that place is quite known for being YunaFan board rather than the general fs forum. Mao for ages was insulted there left and right. Now Adelina's turn. Plus having the owner of an ex- US military obviously adds one more thing anti-Russian, if you bother to visit their Politics section. Nothing new. Moreover, just before the Olympics, someone on GS said ironically that if a new Russian baby wins (Yulia was meant, since even Russians didn't expect Sotnikova to skate clean), then Yunabots and Maobots will "unite", which itself is epic  Laughing , in flaming against a new champion. I am glad to see that bots failed, inspite of all their a la mymao lying and dirty efforts.  geek

Having PCS "near the veterans" is not the point for a constructive opponent who wants to be taken seriously. Veterans can skate "wooden" forever, and the youngests can be simply talented. Giving higher PCS just because you are a veneran is what called "reputation judging", i.e. the cheat that this sport is highly criticized for. Odd to see how you are advocating to fight with what you see "unfair" by offering the cheat. Yuna is a victim in Sochi  Laugh ? Give me a break. Her PCS over everyone is a big joke. After passionate Mao, flirting Caro, sparkling Adelina, Yuna looked like a tired obasan who came to do the work that she hates. No fire, no tango, lower jumps, minimum transitions, walking in boots on road with no glide and speed in what is called "steps". Even her dress was dated. It's a really positive moment for this sport that the skater with bad work ethics and not much hard work on Sochi ice, failed. The only one who can be surely called " a victim" is Carolina. She should have been given silver, that Yuna got thanks to your "fair" reputation judging. Or Caro could have got Gold if she added at least one technical advantage over Adelina. Yunabot's whining over the Net makes your favorite skater looks like a loser, the thing that true fans shouldn't do in the first place. But guess what, I heard "tell me who your idol is..."  Wink

Knowing in advance your tendency to come with moral lectures to "fellow forum members" on who should say what, my reply is- look at the mirror. When you come with flaming trolling post, throwing slogans with no argument whatsoever, be ready to get the fair reply  Very Mad . That is how it works. Are we clear now?  Commentator

These clips came out yesterday. But I don't think they are shared here yet. I think it's great to watch Mao chatting with Shizuka, and the interview is much better than the Jpn team group one.

A long interview Mao x Shizuka
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilDok15QFlo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35TV5HcF5OA

And the following partial translation is taking from hikki at GSF:

Interview Mao x Shizuka
Difference between SP & LP: I was totally out of control of my own mind and body in the SP. After the SP coach Sato advised me. You emailed me, too, Shizuka. But I was thinking all sorts of things. I just decided to go for it all in the LP.

How did you do it?: Obviously this is not what I wanted, but in retrospect the disastrous SP had to happen for me to skate like I did in the LP. While I feel a sense of regret ("moushiwakenai" = "Sorry (I couldn't deliver)") about the result as a nation's representative (Shizuka shakes her head), but I couldn't be more satisfied about what I achieved this time.

What makes you love skating?: (After a long pause) I skate for a moment like last night.

How do you rank your LP in Sochi?: Definitely top 5. But given how much was going on mentally, I'd say that's my number 1. 10 out of 10.

Shizuka then said the last time she'd seen Mao skate "in the zone" was 2008 Worlds LP. But last night was just of of this world.

In the second half, a clip of Daisuke and Yuzu cheering shows. Then Shizuka shares how she knew Mao would be the next generation of powerhouse when she saw her the first time.

On Worlds: I want to put SP and LP together.

What do you want to tell the your juniors?: The Olympics is just so magical. It's hard. I hope I showed them a little bit how rewarding it can be. I hope I contributed a little bit.

Then Shizuka candidly shares about the 2006 season where she competed with Mao. Usually calm and collected Shizuka almost looks teary saying how she learned so much from Mao that season, how important it is to enjoy being on the ice. And this time she wanted to pay back to Mao, which is why she emailed Mao after SP, to tell her how a 15-yo Mao made her feel that way and to remind Mao how her 15-yo self used to be.

On the future: After the SP I swore I just had it with this sport. But the feeling I got after the LP... I don't know. I might get tempted to do this again.

On Yuna: She and I have shared ups and downs since Juniors, always under the spotlight, always trying our best. For both me, and I'm sure it's the same for Yuna, this Olympics was about a challenge for ourselves. And we both did it. And I'm so glad.

let`s talk, we can agree to disagree but your passive aggressiveness against everyone who praises Yuna just makes me  Suspect . Sorry to disappoint you though, but I am neither from GS nor a Yuna bot. Thank you for the gala links, though.  Wink

If you still have a problem, I'm just a PM away. I don't want to discuss this anymore when we should be focusing on Mao.

Thank you COHK! Now I am very excited for Worlds, because I am sure Mao is fired up for competition. Her FS would be a tough act to follow after what she did in Sochi, but we can all be sure that there will be a warm welcome waiting for her in Saitama!
