Group 2 on the ice now. Go Tono (and Brian). Razz

The French team is outgoing and crazy, in a good way. Laughing

ETA: Jeremy done skating...but sheesh, so far all the men are skating really sub-par (this includes PatChan's overscored program too). No And Tat on WebTV just muttered Miki and Mao's name. Not sure why. Sweatdrop

Final Results:

1 Evan LYSACEK USA 238.56 2 1
2 Brian JOUBERT FRA 237.09 1 3
3 Nobunari ODA JPN 229.25 3 4
4 Patrick CHAN CAN 217.98 9 2
5 Jeremy ABBOTT USA 205.05 5 5
6 Vaughn CHIPEUR CAN 198.91 6 6
7 Sergei VORONOV RUS 196.70 4 8
8 Takahiko KOZUKA JPN 190.93 10 7
9 Jialiang WU CHN 183.86 8 10
10 Florent AMODIO FRA 182.32 7 11
11 Chao YANG CHN 177.94 11 9
12 Konstantin MENSHOV RUS 165.21 12 12

Well, I guess that wasn't that bad of a competition. PatChan's score continues to confuse me, as usual - he was second in the FS over Brian and Tono - Evan wins, Brian hangs out to 2nd, Tono does pretty well save for the 4T and that's that.

I'll upload vids now. cat

I just get so pissed with those things. It's my nature... lol

I'm kinda new in this figure skating world, so I mess up a little when it comes to elements.

But, come on, even my grandma would say that was not a double! Isn't it necessary to missa more than 1/4 for the jump to be considered a double? Afffff.....

TAT?? confused Is she there now?? Or is that on WebTV? (What is WebTV?)

Oh, poor Kozu...will have to check out the vids to understand the scores...or maybe I still won't understand them...

So Japan is currently 3rd behind Canada by 1 point. If Mao holds on to 1st and Miki moves up to 2nd, I think that means Japan gets 2nd!

Well, I'll be at work all day and evening so I won't be able to comment, so, GOOD LUCK MAO AND MIKI!! Cheering Cheering

I'm pretty sure that's the only way to see WTT live (TV Asahi's broadcast is delayed and doesn't show everyone). Judging from the fact that Tat is providing the commentary, it's safe to say she's in Russia.

Welcome to the forum alyssa! Pleased to make your acquaintance Very Happy

It's okay, I've been here for a while now and I'm still confused about all the elements.

Your grandma seems pretty knowledgeable, though Razz

For some reason, NTV only decided to broadcast the WTT beginning from today, which is a pity, because I would have loved to hear the excitement in Tat's voice. I love you

And no problem! It'll take awhile to d/l, but it's certainly going to be faster than waiting for YT vids. Wink As far as I know, the program block for WTT still has an hour to go in TV Asahi, meaning the final group's program hasn't even been on air in Japan...

Poor grandma, she can barely see now... almost 90 years old. =/

I really had the impression that the jump was little bit bit bit underrotated. But not enough to be considered a double, I think.

ISU rules for underrotation are pretty severe, sometimes. =/

Btw, it seems the score will really be considered a personal best. \o/

Thank you so much for the videos!!!

Also, does anyone know what time the ladies free skate comes on Japan time?
And I know there are a lot of TV streaming sites online, but does anyone have a recommendation for a good one showing the WTT? Thanks, everyone!

I also find it amusing that basically half the people that don't like Mao
basically stalk her...they hunt down her videos and webpages, and then analyze them intently, and then leave comments about them.

Ladies' FS starts at 3:20PM tomorrow, which is very early for a singles' FS... I'm supposing extra time is needed to set up the podium ceremony and whatnot.

As for online TV streams, the only one that works at all - as far as I know - is KeyHoleTV, but their feed is incredibly choppy. JustinTV usually has live feeds of Japanese sporting events, but unfortunately its all baseball this time around (there WAS a live Japanese feed for Worlds through JSports). Russian WebTV requires a subscription, but there's a 3-day free trial so that's one option. Those with IceNetwork subscription can watch the entire NTT on-demand AFTER the event is over. Neutral

Really. I stopped reading youtube's comments because of this. It's going mad. Sometimes I get afraid of those people. They're really weird. Some users stalk her really, instead of keep watching and chearing for their fave skater, they keep bashing Mao. Well, at least we know they're afraid of her being a match to Yuna, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

No idea. No one seems 100% sure on whether it wouldn't or will, regardless of the forum. Laughing With that said, seeing as how it is ISU-governed and scores in Senior-"B" level competitions like Nebelhorn can count, I don't see why not.

I guess we'll have to see until ISU updates their PB page again. Sweatdrop

Why wouldn't this score count as her PB? I am not sure how the ISU decides on this. Could someone please explain? Embarassed

Can you please give me the link for Russian WebTV? This event is getting absolutely zero coverage in Canada, which is rather surprising as all the headliners are there... whatever. I would have so loved to hear the commentators reactions to Mao's fantastic SP. But it's all about hockey now. We made the playoffs!! By the skin of our teeth but whatever. Who, me? Anyway, I'd like to be able to follow live tonight and hear TAT get excited... even if I don't understand what she's saying. Too sweet!

hehehe the whole thing STARTS at midnight for me but I don't care!! I'll be there to support Mao Dance

I posted the link one page before, but here you go:
www.rutelevision.com/index-en.asp cat

The channel that actually airs WTT (since Russian WebTV consists of several channels) reads like this - НТВ-ПЛЮС Спорт Онлайн. It's very punctual, and begins the broadcast from the warm-ups; all the other disciplines are being shown as well.

I have a quick question about reading protocol sheets...(sorry, I don't mean to change the subject ): )
When there is a number next to the abbreviated element, is that the level that particular move was given?
Question

TvAnts has TV Asahi streaming.
http://www.tvants.com

After installation, paste 朝日in the box to search the channel.
Quality is better than KH TV.

Thanks for the link, zooma!

I've downloaded the program and have found the channel. Everything seems to be in good working order. Fingers crossed that my internet won't break down within the next few hours.

I'm a bit iffy on the time zone differences, so excuse my ignorance, but does Japan only have one time zone? I could only find the time zone for Tokyo, which is GMT+9.

For anyone wanting to watch the Asahi stream in Sydney, we're in GMT+10, so the broadcast should be on at 4:20PM here.

For more information about time zones, refer to this website:
