I never heard this here, but one Yuna fan said that she read a Japanese article which mentions this. So, I am rather curious.

Hm, if no one on here heard about it, I don't know just how credible that is, unless of course, the person was simply just talking about her sp, lp, and ex.... I would guess that she's probably not working on a backup competitive program. If it were true, I wouldn't mind seeing an extra program from her this season though Smile On the other hand, if one of her programs doesn't work out, I would love to see her pull out one of her old ones too (I miss them!). I would be willing to bet that that's her back up plan.

Looks like there's a Russian article on Mao - some parts of it should be familiar as it covers Mao's recent practice(s) in Russia which Asya has kindly translated a while back.
www.sport-express.ru/newspaper/2009-09-15/16_1/

ETA: There's an FSU thread in the Great Skate Debate section that has excerpts of the article translated so be sure to have a look! The article expands on the practice sessions with Tat and has a nice interview section with Mao's mom. cat

That Russian article on Mao was excellent! flower

I didn't realize that Mai is named after Maya Plisetskaya!! That's so cool! WOW!

Since the reporter saw Mao on a 'bad day,' I can't even imagine what Mao is like on a good day! Faint2

Finally, here's another Crimio behind-the-scenes/interview video:

So cute! Wub

Thanks for the link, clovera! Finally, I managed to read through the translations without having a nosebleed like I get when using Babelfish. Thanks to polosatik for mentioning Google Translate. Very Happy The translations there are so much better.

Todays' Mao news snippet: The original source is 2ch and unconfirmed, so it may not be 100% accurate, but I'll post it anyway since Mao news is drying up with the JO so close. Razz

Looks like Chukyo University's Toyota Campus - where the Aurora Ice Rink is located at - had open campus today for the general public and Mao practiced her Bells program for visitors. Shocked There's not a lot of details about the practice unfortunately (e.g., which version of Bells she practiced to), but it appears that Mao ended her program with the one-handed Biellmann - something we haven't seen from her in quite some time.

(Hopefully formal news about Mao and Chukyo Uni's open campus will make it to television tomorrow...) Yep!

Thanks, clovera! Tokitama posted a tweet about this earlier and something about 3A and 3S aside from the one-handed Biellmann.

OMG!!!! affraid I LOVE that biellmann! Wub After being nervous all summer about that program, this really makes me feel better.

If anyone knows anything else about this practice, please post! The Japan Open is only two weeks away, but I've been dying all summer for any concrete info! Thanks! Worship

JO cannot come fast enough!

Ooh! I hope the news are true! I love Mao's one handed Biellman. It's one of her most known signature moves, IMHO. Love Hearts

Amusingly enough, there was a discussion about "unique" elements on FSU a few days ago and it made me remember Mao's Biellman. I thought it would be a great move to see in Mao's "Bell" free skate, because the shape of the body while she executes this spin reminds me of a bell (with head being the heart of the bell).
Here's a short video showing different variations done by Mao, Yukari, Shizuka and Mira: Smile
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O42hRUR0PMQ

Thank you for the translation, clovera! Thumbs up! When you mentioned the fan report I went to 2ch to see if they posted anything more. I found another short report in フィギュアスケート☆浅田真央 Part465 本スレ . The poster mentioned that:
- Mao did one handed Biellman,
- the poster can not recognize jumps, so sadly he/she can't say what type of jumps Mao landed,
- she has a new spiral position that the poster has never seen before (but the poster did not say if it was totally new or just new for Mao)
- she skated to orchestral version of Prelude in C-Minor (Bell). The poster described it as "more powerful than the one on Youtube"

Another poster said that Mao's spiral sequence has a position where her body looks like "bell", similar to one-handed Biellman.

ETA: Thanks for the link, Pooping! flower Too bad there was no new practice clips... I think we'll have to wait until Japan Open. Whirly

Faint2 I cannot imagine a more perfect spiral sequence for this music! I got chills when I read that. Thank you to Okami, Pooping, and Clovera for the reports!

As for the music being more "powerful", I hope the poster meant "emotionally powerful" and not "loud, bombastic, and overwhelmingly powerful," because the orchestrated one on youtube now sounds too "loud, bombastic, and overwhelming powerful" to me, and I can't imagine a version of that music that would be moreso. Suspect

If it IS more "emotionally powerful" though, then I'm beyond thrilled!! Cloud 9

13 days until JO! Boogie

Translation for Tianrushui

Blogger felt surprised when Mao announced that she will show her "Bell of Moscow".
As he/she knows that this program will be opened for public at Japan Open, so he/she
respected that and tried to not mention about jump or any element. But it seemed so
gorgeous as he/she thought it suits Olympic season so much and surprised at Mao's
facial expressions too. She admired Spiral Sequence. <-- This interests me so much
b'coz I think it will be the same as last year program, fan spiral and Biellman and
Arabesque? (I forgot that technical term) but it seems different from last year.
At the end, he/she wrote about costume because Mao wore practice suit so he/she and
his/her friend talked about which color suit this program. Perhaps the real costume
will not be completed while Japan Open so we must wait to see.
