My time zone is Eastern US, where it's almost 10:00 p.m., now. The competition for me starts at 5:00 a.m., so it's roughly 7 hours from compeition. Very Happy

Can someone tell us what this is about, pls: Mao Article. I think it's about her SP changes or something. The translations from translation sites is quite a nosebleed. Razz

What time will the live SP actually start? Delayed telecast will be shown tonight, right?

Ok, here's a really rough translation of highlights... Sweatdrop

According to this article, Mao says, "We changed the entrance to the jumps and the step sequence, so I feel like I have a little more breathing room. I've completely gotten used to skating this way, so it's like I've forgotten that we changed it in the first place." After the practice, Mao had a refreshed expression.

She changed her 3A so that she does it on the side opposite the judges instead of right in front of them. Reiko Ogawa (the JSF lady who takes care of Mao), said that "If you do it right in front of the judges, then it is human nature to check for underrotations, and that puts pressure on the skater."

About giving up the tano-toe, Mao said, "Rather than raise my arm and barely make the rotation, I think I'll get better GOEs if I properly complete the rotation. I want to do clearly/obviously good jumps." Today she landed 5 good 3As.

At the end, Mao said, "I watched the GPF on TV, and I wanted to compete. So I was really looking forward to Japan Nationals."

***
YES, that is the fighting spirit I wanted to see! Thumbs up!

GOO MAO!! Cheering

I plan to watch the TV broadcast, so, I was wondering if we could refrain from posting the scores/placements until the broadcast?? I kind of want to watch it without knowing the result...what do you guys think? Or maybe we should set up a separate thread for play-by-play commentary?

Positive changes made for the better? Check.
Mao feeling refreshed and raring to go? Check.
Jumps- especially the 3A- landed in practice sessions? Check.
Mao looking forward to the competition? Check.

Everything seems good to go! Can't wait. Very Happy

Batsuchan, hmm..maybe we can type in white font or really small font so that it's not visible...either that or a separate thread would work, I think.

^^Thanks so much, Batsuchan! :worship The pictures, clips, and articles are looking really positive for Mao so I'm more excited now than nervous.

It seems you're also right on your prediction a couple of months back when Mao didn't make the GPF. Being out of the competition for so long is making her fired up for Nationals. Very Happy Cheering

I think I'm going to hold off visiting forums and twitter in a while... I wanna watch the the broadcast and learn the results from there, too, even if the feed lags a bit sometimes. Razz

I love looking at Mao when she smiles like this: http://hochi.yomiuri.co.jp/photo/20091225-674652-1-L.jpg

So, just to check, the competition will be airing on Keyhole in roughly 6 hours?

Keyhole is working fine for me at the moment, I hope it stays that way Very Happy

Can't wait to see Mao skate!

I'll just post the link to the unofficial live results page in advance, for those who do wish to be spoiled (you can't access it now since the competition hasn't started). Wink

So there is no link in English? I don't understand anything Sad

PS: Does anyone know if Mao is going to wear the new dress for Nationals like she did for GP series? Any news about that?

The site owner changed the servers (the unofficial results page yesterday were often inaccessible due to heavy traffic); the link should be working now. I love you

It's a jump variation where the skater extends his or her arm (one or both) instead of having it folded across their chest.

Mao will wear CoR dress in SP. She changed "Masquerade" in step sequence too. I really
want to witness that. Oh! and Miki will sacrifice herself with 4-salchow. She said she will not do this in Olympic so she does it here. If she can land that, picture how her score and Mao will be.

I really hope Japanese lady team to clear 3-3 combo curse.

Ok, cool!

For those of you who are killing time like me, I posted the last bits of the "Mao Asada, Brilliant Eighteen" in that thread.

Anyone watching FujiTV?This unagi clip is reminding me of the unagi place that Mao likes to go to. ROTFLMAO

I think this channel also offers a FujiTV stream of Ladies SP Woot!
http://www.justin.tv/skate_skate

The stream should start in ca. 8 minutes! I hope for a less choppy feed than my KeyHoleTV...
