Thanks, bellarina! It's so scary and yet so exciting at the same time, to think the figure skating competition is gonna start. Good luck to all the pairs tonight! And may all the men do their best!

I feel the exact same way, especially now the figure skating part of the Olympics has really started, even though Mao hasn't left for Vancouver yet!

Does anyone know of a live stream that'll work in the US? I can't find anything that'll work and since I'm at school, the nearest TVs are either taken or broken.

I can't find a stream for you but you can at least have play-by-play until someone finds a stream:

ETA: actually, I just noticed it's not PBP but they do provide planned elements and protocols live.

Have you tried this one (I think it's CTV streaming TSN, and I have no idea if it's restricted:

I was just about to post this! Very Happy This is simply an AWESOME link! For the Olympics, they are showing the judging and protocols LIVE for all events. That means no more wondering about the judging and how marks were rewarded until after the long program ends (For Mao, we'll be able to see how her marks were rewarded in the full protocols immediately after she skates). Big improvement in my opinion! cheers

How annoying... Do the GOEs, executed elements and basically all the interesting stuff in the technical part of the protocol except the total score disappear for you? I've refreshed the page 4 times and the numbers disappear after like 8-10 seconds... Weird...

That's an awesome link, thank you, chiyori!!

The CTV link doesn't work for me but I managed to find a Eurosport feed. It's not showing pairs right now but maybe they'll go back to broadcasting it? Here's the link if anyone wants to use it: http://www.channelsurfing.net/watch-winter-olympics.html

chiyori, to go back to the full scores, click the plus sign on the right side- that'll expand it so the full protocols come back. Smile

It's the Moskvina effect. Razz But I don't mind since they skated pretty well; nice to see P/T - my other sentimental favorite in the pairs event - in a pretty good spot after the short. Hell, no! S/Z were just magical.

Yay for Shen & Zhao!! Happy dance Totally thrilled for them and hope they can hold on for gold tomorrow!

And I'm so happy for Yuko & Sasha!! I Love Hearts them.

Well, I went on a total posting rampage and added about 4 posts to my blog (now done with 2007-08 season and starting 08-09 one)...so in between the skating events, check it out.

Also unrelated--short-track speed skating is totally my new second favorite sport. It is soo exciting to watch! Hell, no!

Shen and Zhao were amazing!! There were so many empty seats in the arena because they skated first, and they still skated their hearts out! Many Hearts

I hope we see some more great skating tomorrow! cheers

Yes, Shen and Zhao were amAAAAAzing!! Swoon The sentimental me got a bit teary-eyed at the end of their performance. How wonderful to see them returning and how cool is it that I get to watch it!!!

First time I get to watch figure skating live from a television screen. Razz Got up early in the morning and watched it with my dad. flower I dragged him to watch it with me as I've basically been talking non-stop about figure skating for the past few days. I LUUUUUURVE my chinese new year vacation.

Love to see the bond and trust they have with each other. It is truly very special. Love how their hit each other's fists before they were introduced.

But I dozed off after the first two flights...: the cold weather here leaves me more drowsy than usual in the morning. coffee:

So happy to see Savchenko/Szolkowy & Pang/Tong overcome adversities and put out their best performances of the season as well.

Like a Star @ heaven A new clip about Mao and Mai's relationship: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBSjzXJ4FO8

Like a Star @ heaven Mao's 4CC FS performance with Jennifer Kirk's commentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc-sxsBkjuA (I hope you guys don't mind me posting this here; thought that it'd be more convenient) Razz

ETA: Thanks to dlnnyc for pointing out my error~ Thumbs up!

Indeed! Love

Thank you for the links, snowdrops24!
The first clip was aired on yesterday live. Mai is already in Vancouver WOW! (earlier than Mao!)
Mai said she was watching freestyle skiing live and reported it to Mao by phone Very Happy
Mai was asked that what is the greatest thing about Mao by Shuuzou Matsuoka. She answered, "She makes efforts everyday. It may sound easy, but actually very hard. And she is hard on herself."

Can somebody tell me how many of the 30 skaters qualify for the free skate? 24 or 20?

I think 24 will qualify for the LP. All of them should qualify, though.

Sad, Lonely

But at Euros and 4CC only 20 of them qualified. I was wondering if that's a new rule for all the competitions... Panic!

Nobu - 4T-3T-3L, Takahiko - 4T, Plush - 4T-3T, Nobu 4T.

Plush certainly looks very confident!

The landings on Nobu's quad & quad combo... Swoon Faint2
