Sasha Cohen makes her Olympic predictions. Not only did she not support her own teammates, she didn't include Mao on the podium!
And I heard before that Mao was a fan of Sasha. Disappointed

She pretty much predicted a repeat of 2009 Worlds? silent Somehow, I don't think so. And how boring would it be... No surprise, no dark horse, no nothing... bleh...

Mao will prove her wrong!! Cheering

Sasha, I hope you are wrong... Rolling Eyes

It strikes me as odd that she doesn't mention Mao or Akiko as potentials for the podium (hasn't she been paying attention the last couple of months?), though I have to admit, I suspect she's right about the US ladies not having much of a chance. Sure it's possible, but Rachael needs the top ladies to make mistakes before she gets anywhere, and the judges don't seem to appreciate Mirai... No

I hope to be completly wrong, but I think like Sasha Embarassed .

I adore to Mao, but her possibilities I see, well... not very big pale . I think all will be the sp, of Mao or Yuna of course, if Mao get perfect sp, she will win, or if Yuna lose the sp, I can see Mao win, but the reality is Yuna almost never lose the sp.

all i can say is we dont know yet what will happen until the olympic start, but if mao will back to the podium shame of them all,did you notice guyz that everytime mao has a new program she cant master the program once or twice for example in 2009 asadas program was new she cant master that program thats why she was lost and yuna won,in this 2010 looks she already master her program very well, now shame on them caz asada says that she is a kind of skater that will never give up at the 2nd round.....thats all thank you guyz..... Thank you!

You are right, we cant look in the future sadly! But talking about it makes the time go faster *loool*

I really wonder why Sasha is thinking like that! I mean, who if not Korea and Japan dominated the ladies skating the last years? Im sure we will see at least one japanese lady on the podeum! (and prays for the mens event too XD)
Ok, there is Joannie and maybe Carolina too, but they cant beat Mao when she is on her best, can they?

Sasha is, of course, entitled to her opinion. I guess she is basing her predictions on how well the ladies have competed so far in this season (and perhaps in the previous season).

I do think that Mirai has a chance of getting on the podium, though Cheering.

And as for Mao - I think it goes without saying what my idea of a dream podium would be. GO MAO!!! cheers

For those who are interested, Swedish television is broadcasting the whole thing online and in very good quality (I think the site will be either http://svt.se/os or http://svtplay.se/t/103698/konstakning).

And the broadcasts will be free of commentators! Very Happy

21-year old Georgian luger, Nodar Kumaritashvili, died today when practicing.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/13/sports/olympics/13luge.html

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100212/wl_canada_afp/oly2010lugedead_20100212202128;_ylt=ArkDxINJ2C6TWanXONKNa0MIO7gF

It says that he lost control of the sled.

So heartbreaking. R.I.P., Nodar.

It's definitely unfortunate, but the really sad part is, it was preventable. Vancouver's luge/bobsled route is known as the "fastest" in the world, and is quite dangerous. It is over 10mph over the speed limit thought to be safe. Recently, one of the best luge athletes in the world stopped halfway during practice because it was too dangerous. Another athlete got knocked unconscious. It was poor planning on Vancouver's part- now they are wondering whether these events will take place at all (the men's luge event is supposed to start today) because they have to make major changes to the track.
My thoughts are with his family.

What sad news... R.I.P., Nodar... My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Winter sports can be so dangerous... Just yesterday there were news that a Polish skiing instructor fell out of the track and died, too... pale

Thanks for the vid! Nobu and Taka look good! Nobu has crazy soft knee on that 4T landing... Too bad that Noriko Shirota said that "only Takahashi will fight for gold" (I guess JSF will not support the other boys)...

The rink is growing on me... AT least the colors are cool. The Torino rink was pretty on photos, but it clashed horribly with a lot of the skaters' costumes... My head started hurting when I was watching the ice dance OD, the mix of colors was crazy! Laugh
