I saw japanese news saying there is no progress about Mao's coach When mao attended the 5.29 event for a gym or something. and when she was in Seoul, she had an interview after the show and said she will decide SLOWLY about the coach, for it is such an important issue.

I think it may take a long time....

First I thought this will be kind of fast choice, now I see it's for sure will take a long time scratch

As important as it is and although it probably does merit a slow decision, if Mao doesn't have her programs ready and have a coach that's aware of what needs to be done then she'll wind up putting unnecessary stress on herself

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if she starts next season without a coach! Maybe she is getting at least some coaching from Tat. It would probably be hard for Tat NOT to be giving her any coaching right now. I mean, she was her official coach until just recently, and she's now working with her on choreography. Maybe that's why she isn't in a rush to get a new coach. Maybe she's getting close to the same amount of coaching that she was getting before - part time. Just a theory....

What Mao concern about COACH is the person who will help her
improve jump technique. She can do any spins or step sequences
and nice spiral sequences with choreographer. She already has
physical training with Weider support. What choreo and Weider
cannot support is to fix that Lutz, improve Flip, develop 3-3 jumps,
oh so many things to do! LOL.

BIG MAO WANTS LUTZ!

I do hope she finds a coach soon. Taking her time to think means she's probably being cautious, which is a good thing, but it's gonna be hard to train without a coach. Sure she won Worlds twice without a coach, but doing that for the entire season would just be too stressful.

Tat's probably giving her a few tips and lending a hand though. We all know that they did not part on bitter terms. ^u^

I'm not too concerned about Mao not having a coach yet.
I think it's a very mature and well thought-out decision to take her time in choosing her coach.
It's more important in choosing the right person than to hurry and choose the wrong one and having to switch later. I think Mao is looking to Sochi, so she wants one who will fit her and will be able to stay with her for the many upcoming seasons.
I'm perfectly fine with her not doing too well this season because she's trying to find the right coach, what's more important are the years that lie ahead. And knowing Mao, she'll get better and better as the season progresses.

Mao will go TEB again! and NHK

I wonder why Mao chose TEB. and this choice gives me an idea like she will continue to do 3 3As with a layout like 3a, 3a2t, 3f3l, 3f, 2a2lo2lo, 2a, 3t. I don't know why I was hit by this idea.....

I guess TEB chose Mao again.(for 5th time?) I read an interview back in 2008 in which Mao said her wish was to go NHK and COC for 08-09 season but Mao was assigned to NHK and TEB for that season. No choice, I guess.

Hey guys!! Daisies for you

Thank you for the updates of Mao at the Korean ice shows and her new GP assignments!

Love Mao's costumes in the shows, a great departure from what she wore the the last season. Now beams with satisfaction.

I'm back from a trip to Osaka and brought back with me the July issue of Vogue. Smile Many thanks to my fwend who picked it up for up at a bookstore Love Hearts ; as previous users mentioned, they are pretty much sold out in 7-elevens and other convenient stores...

I've scanned them all into the computer and wants to share them with you all but I can't seem to find a place to upload them to.

How do I upload the photos? I tried clicking on the "host an image" button but couldn't upload the photos because they say that my password is incorrect and I have to register - the problem is that I couldn't find the place on the site that tells you how to register... Razz

Hey, did anyone every translate the article? I've seen the pics a bunch, but I still don't know what the article actually says!.... Guess there's nothing too important in it, or I would have heard by now! I'm not asking anyone to translate the whole thing, but if there's anything important in it, please let me know!

Gahh, I've been so busy that I really haven't had time to read the forum or write , but from the little I've seen, I think no one has mentioned the key rumor that came out of the VOGUE NIPPON issue!

Remember that when Mao was choosing her 2009-10 LP, TAT gave her two songs to choose from? "Bells" and something else, which was *rumored* to be something by Liszt--ie, "Liebestraum." Well, in the interview, they ask Mao if she can reveal what the other choice was, and Mao replies something like, "it's a secret because I probably will use it this season." WOW!

So perhaps, PERHAPS, we might finally be able to see Mao skate to "Liebestraum"?? I'm certainly hoping this rumor turns out to be true!

If Mao follows her pattern from the past two seasons, we'll know her program music by the end of June!! Very Happy

Thanks Batsuchan for telling us this! I was wondering what she said about her new programs.

I was thinking that she may use the other choice this season, so hopefully it was Liebestraum afterall!

Actually when I read it I was sooo excited and really wanted to tell you guys about it, but I didn't... because it's not certain and I was afraid that I might make disappoint you as a result because of my bad English Sweatdrop

Thank you for the links, Dani-chan! flower cheers

And mingming, you're not the only one who read it in the article but didn't say anything about it on this forum. When I first read about it, I was like... yEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Razz And wanted to celebrate the news with everyone, when the rational side of me reminds me of my elementary standard Japanese. So, i was like, eeek, may be I got it wrong. Sweatdrop

Thanks for confirming the news, Batsuchan! Somehow, I am actually hoping to see an SP of Liebestraum rather than a FS - if that is possible. Haha, deep now, would like to see Mao trying out musics that have more highs and lows, that creates an uplifting sense of triumph.

Thanks so much snowdrops for the article upload! I've been wanting to read the interview so much! I looked for the issue a few weeks ago at bookshops in my neighborhood hoping maybe, but in vain.

Batsuchan, welcome back! You are totally right about the "Liebestraum" issue. There is a high possibility that she'll be using it for next season. I wasn't so sure at first when I heard the rumors, but she did mention she'd probabaly be using the other music Tat suggested to her next season, so I think it really may happen now! I'm happy about this because I don't want to see anything which Tat had in mind for Mao to be wasted.

I wasn't against Mao going with 'Bells' last season at all, though. Esp since in the same interview she said she wanted strong music for Olys, so that it can help her overcome the tension. I think 'Bells' was right for last season, as she was able to be strong like the music until the very end of the season. When she said she wants something more soft and slow for next season, I was excited to see that side of her again, but I also didn't want her to lose the level of artistry which she achieved last season. But if the soft slow music she's referring to is the "Liebestraum" which Tat suggested, I don't have any reason to be worried. Tat always introduces us to a new side in Mao, I'm looking forward to what kind of Mao we'd be discovering a few months from now. cat

Personally, I am really hoping Mao selects a more modern music piece for her programs. "Liesbestraum" feels like something she has already done before in the past. I wish she could try something more jazzy. (something like her 2004 exhibition music). But since Mao seems to have a preference for classical pieces, I guess my wish won't come true this season. Sigh.~~
On a side note, I wish Lu Chen can be an adviser for Mao Razz Because she never went wrong with her music selections for her programs. I loved all of them. Smile Anyways, I hope TAT comes up with better music arrangements than the ones this she did this season. Sometimes it's not the music piece itself per se but the arrangement that's more crucial to its success.

I used to feel the same at first. 'Liesbestraum' felt so like she was 'going back' to her old style. Of course I love her old styles, but I also wanted her to pursue new stuff, so I wasn't sure if it would be the right music for her next season. But, since it's Tat who's making the pro, and since it was one of the candidates for Olys season, I started to think that it couldn't be something which would simply take her back to what she's used to. Even if the music may be like some of those she had used before, I think Tat would always include something new and challenging for her in the pro itself. I'd like her to try something modern too someday, but maybe not this season. If she does that right now, people might think she admitted that her music choices for last season didn't work out, and decided to use more easy-to-understand music for the audience as a strategy. And I for one wouldn't like her pros for last seasons to be remembered that way... No

Don't be pessimistic, guys!
Mao always makes us surprised, and loves to do something new. Same as TAT, like Pochi said. So I think if she skated to soft music, it won't be old style of her. And we don't know anything about LP yet. Razz Let's wait for the official news from Mao in expectation! Cheering
