Let me give this a shot.

From Mao To Yukari

hisashiburi desu

It's been a while.

sanrinsha race gambatteimasuka

Are you trying hard in the tricycle race?

tonikaku

Anyway...

skate jidai no hard na renshuu wo omoidashite ganbattekudasai

...think back to the hard training of your skating years and try hard.

soshite

and then

race ni sanka shite iru minasanmo
nagai jikan taihen dato omoimasuga ganbattekudasai

to everyone participating in this race,
I imagine the long duration is tough, but try hard.

minna ganbatte kudasai

Everyone, try hard!

tricycles might be more difficult than skating, but with "Yukari Guts", try hard.

This news is about Mao visiting Toyota city hall to meet the Mayor of Toyota.
Mao told him how she wants to improve each year so that she could be at her best in Sochi. Yep!

I miss Yukari so much. Is there any chance that she'll make a comeback?

I can't watch the video--it says it's private! No

But I did see an article about Mao meeting the mayor! Very Happy

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/e-japan/aichi/news/20100729-OYT8T01190.htm

She talked to the mayor for about an hour and told him about winning the Olympic silver medal and World championship gold medal. She said, "I think new rivals will continue to come up/grow from below. In order to challenge myself with new skills/techniques, I'm starting all over from the beginning."

Her discussion with the mayor will be printed in a 60 year commemorative book which will be published next March.

GOO MAO!! Cheering

Thanks for the link, bibi. I love you

The girl is Kotomi Yoshikawa, 11years old. Her right hand and leg are paralyzed because of the aftereffects of cerebral hemorrhage.
Her dream is to skate with Mao. She learned how wonderful to challenge something and how important to make effort from Mao.
I've heard they took it after 3rd THE ICE show. So this is the preview of the broadcasting. It reminds us of Miku-chan. (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6lofa_24tv-mao-miku-part3_sport)
It will be aired on August 28 or 29.(I don't know what time it will)

Mao was featued on CNN's 'Tokyo Hotlist' Part 1
15. Mao Asada: This ice skater is ranked third in the world as of May 2010. She became Japan’s heart, no thanks to her ‘little sister’ looks and cheery attitude. She won second in the Winter Olympics, gold in the 2010 World Figure Skating Championships and is the ideal spokes model for commercial interest.

Yay for Mao! Cheering She should be higher on the list though. She is a far better role model than first place Erika Sawajiri. I remember Erika started out in innocent drama roles; now she's really like the Lindsay Lohan of Japan.

Yay for Mao! cheers

BTW, the user ayayukiituka posted on Goldenskate:
"Well,I went to the concert that is played the music skaters skate to. It was fantastic and what I know is that Mao's Love Dream is played by not orchestra but piano Love Hearts Love Hearts I thought this FS may be her masterpiece,After recognizing that, It must be Smile"

Wow, l I never knew anything about the concert! And I would just love for Mao to skate to the piano version - as I had said before I find the piano version much more skate-able and fitting Mao's style Love
