I can't believe this, are you sure that the article is reliable, maybe it's just a rumour I certainly don't hope it's true. mao has great step seq, spins, spirals the only thing she may need is jumps. and nagakube is the perfect choice to help her with it. I am going crazy why the hell does mao need to be affected by the bad relationship between nobuo and sato can't they both just coach mao and try to get along. cause like I said nagakube is the right one to help mao's jumps... if nobuo really demanded that mao had to fire nagakube to be her coach then he is really pissing me off. the season is soon going to begin and mao needs him now...

Yeah, I really wanted Nagakubo to go on coaching Mao's jumps. I like Nagakubo as a person more than Sato. But that doesn't mean I have any bad impressions towards Sato. I just can't make out what he's like, that's all. But many of his students have been with him for a long time, Yukari and Takahiko seem to trust him alot, and his daughter Yuka seems really nice, so Sato must be a fine person too. And it said in the articles that Sato will go on fixing Mao's jumps, so Mao hasn't changed any plans for her path to Sochi. I don't think Sato and Nagakubo aren't friendly with eachother either. Since there has never been a case in which a skater was coached by 2 top coaches at once, there may be complications so I suppose that's why they decided to go only with Sato. Smile

Pochi, do you think Sato may hold Mao back on going for those difficult layouts? (until she's ready at least) I always feel he has a steady and somewhat conservative approach. I have to admit that Nakagubo's talks of those layouts was one thing that made me a little wary of him.

Btw, have you read my PM's I sent you? Cuz you haven't replied. Sad And check out my new thread in the voting booth. Very Happy

I really have no idea!
But Sato is also a coach who allows his skaters to challenge I think. He always lets Takahiko go for quads, and Yukari even attempted 3As, remember? I think he might reduce the number of Mao's 3As and maybe not make her do all the jumps in one season, but if Mao tells him she wants to, I think Sato might let her do as she wishes. scratch

And sorry! I'll reply to your PM as soon as I've seen the junior Chinese skater's performance you've mentioned. I've just been busy setting up our forum channel in Youtube and stuff! Worship

Of course I am sad that those stupid tabloids were at least partially right No No and I liked seeing Mao and Mr. Nagakubo working.
I spoke with some people on twitter and I think maybe it was the only way, bc how could Mr. Nagakugo coach Mao after the season start, if he is still coaching AKiko?
I think this was uncomfortable for Mr. Sato and him, so they maybe decided that only Mr. Sato should work with Mao. Let's hope this doesn't stops her plans to rework her jumps.
I believe in you, Mao Smile

And mingming, how cute is Mao drinking champagne? I want a piece of that cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheers Hell, no! Swoon

Thanks pochipota, mingming and kirakira for those links.

About coaching thing, TBH I think the situation is really simple now that once Mao found her main coach, he is in charge of everything about training including jumps and etc. On the other hand, Nagakubo can now concentrate on Akiko as her main coach. Having two different coaches at the same time won't be good for Mao nor Akiko either.
Nagakubo wasn't Mao's main coach from the first place but I think he was rather nice to help Mao for her jumping issues while she was alone even though he could not see her mainly. Smile

By the way, the cake looks really good. I hope she enjoyed it with champagne!! geek

We'll never know what happened between Nagakubo and Sato but I'm worried how it will affect Mao's jumps.
I read somewhere that Nagakubo said that he and Sato have different jump techniques. So will Mao have to start from zero again now she's with Sato ?

Yeah, I also felt sad but maybe it can't be avoided. Yep, Sadly

Btw, this article says Mao won't be taught by Mr.Nagakubo until this season finished.
A Japanese Forum member says maybe this is not dissolution. But actually I have no idea.

Mao says she feels relaxed with Mr.Sato. sunny

According to this article, Mr.Sato says that he won't change her basic parts because the season will be started so soon, and he is planning to polish her skating(I don't know this means skating skills or total "figure skating") little by little.
So I think he won't have Mao start from zero again. Yep!

I just want to believe team Mao and cheer her! Cheering

Aw the video of the cake/champagne is so cute! And Taka-chan pouring champagne for her...aw Wub

About the coaching news...hmm, I think Mao wanted the most stable situation possible, and it's not possible for Nagakubo to help her with her jumps at all times because he's focused on Akiko. I remember reading somewhere that he could only see her occasionally during the off-season when she didn't even have a main coach yet, so he'd probably see her even fewer times during the regular season. I was really excited about Nagakubo helping her with her jumps, though, because he seems to be so good at that. Hopefully Sato can help her as well, though.

I think Japanese Figure Skating Committee tried to help their athletes
to find coach. It will be sorry if no Japanese teachers want to train Mao,
their highest hope.
Both Sato and Nagakubo are staffs and teachers when all athletes are
in Summer Camp together because they are superb. So even Nagakubo
is not a jumping coach for Mao anymore. Mao can train with him in
Summer Camp. And they are both great so it is difficult for Mao to hold
both of them. I think if she did that, she would be selfish to other athletes.

Too bad there was that banner on the screen when Mao did her 3Lo-3Lo!! I really wanted to try to see how rotated the second loop looked. No She really covered some distance in her first loop though, wow! Thumbs up!

I guess I'm not too surprised that Mao broke off her relationship with Nagakubo-sensei. I think it might have been too hard to juggle two coaches, who might have different opinions about how Mao should train. Yep!

It was very cute to see Taka-chan pouring the champagne! flower I remember reading that he bought Mai alcohol for her birthday when she turned 20. Smile (Though I have to admit, he and Elena looked really cute when they were playing hockey together backstage at THE ICE. Hmm... Suspect )

Can't wait to see Japan Open!! Happy dance

okay now I'm really worried if nagakube and nobou have different jump technique, does that mean she will keep nobou and start all over again after this season? and how is it possible to keep both I am so confused? this situation doesn''t make much sense. and does anyone know if mao will keep her planned jump layout???

Well, while I liked Nagakubo, and it seemed like he was working really well for Mao, I'm sure there would have been some conflict between the two coaches in what they wanted to do with Mao (especially since they aren't exactly buddies). Besides, it sounds like Nagkubo was only going to be able to give her lessons durring the off season anyway. Everyone probably agreed that even if he could spend some time training with Mao as time went on, his techniques, and methods may be different from Satos, and it could easily turn into a big counterproductive mess. I think she did learn a lot from Nagakubo in her short time with him though. I hope she will be able to continue using what she learned from him in a smooth transition to her new coach, and he won't want to go back and undo a bunch of things she learned from Nagakubo. I know Nagakubo was more of a popular choice here in the forum, and some of that had to do with his personality. Yes, he does seem more fun, and cheerful, while Sato seems more grumpy, and serious. But keep in mind, that doesn't mean a whole lot. Sato may not be very much like that in person at all. People sometimes tell me that I look upset when I'm actually fine, and a lot of people think I look stuck up when I'm really not at all.

Thanks for the birthday video links guys! Is 20 the legal drinking age in Japan? What was Mao talking about in the video?

Wow, look how much more ice coverage she has with the first loop now! Shocked

Sigh. No And I can definitely see how they (the tabloid writer/s) came up with the "different technique" schtick now.
That said, I'm a bit confused with how Yomiuri's article - the one which mingming posted earlier - hinted on how Mao will be receiving Nagakubo-san's tutelage at the end of the season again.
Was the jump-coach arrangement meant to be temporary from the start? We'll never know. study

Wow you're right! Shocked

I've calmed down now, and I've been thinking that designating Sato as the main coach and dissolving the teacher-student relationship with Nagakubo may be for the best. I must admit, I'm one of the more... Er, hostile members who reacted negatively to this news because I really wanted Nagakubo to polish her jump techniques. But hey, I believe in Team Mao. She's really improving, if we'll take her practice videos as an indication. So right now, I'm still unsatisfied with what happened but I'm gonna stick around and see what happens because I have faith in Mao's decision!

I think we all wished that somehow Mao was still working with Mr. Nagakubo, but I am sure she won't abandon her plans of polishing her jumps, probably now she will do it more slowly and consistently with Mr. Sato.
We know Mao will never stop trying to improve, that's why I have so much faith in her decision Smile

Well, I guess it was wishful thinking to think that Mao could keep both coaches throughout the season. It makes sense that Nagakubo would want to focus on Akiko and his other skaters now that the season is starting, and maybe it's a good idea that Mao only learns from one coach for now. Trying to learn from them both might have created complications, even if Nagakubo was only focusing on the jumps. Maybe one coach with one vision for her progress is what Mao needs now?

I have no way of knowing if Sato is the best choice for Mao, but he has certainly had success with his students, and I hope that things work out well with them.

Oh, and it was totally cute the way Mao didn't actually drink the champagne! Laugh

3L-3L seems perfect in sight but 2nd Loop seems underrotated.
I'm not interested in anything but TRIPLE LUTZ!!!!
Please show me this season to stop those bashing voice that
said Mao has 3A 2 times in program because she cannot do 3Lz.
And to overcome Kim who has no 3L.

(Ha, I laughed to Kim Yu-na Song sung by her fans? which listed
every triple jump and her Double Loop that they were impressive.
Yeah. Double Loop.)

Yes..we'll never know. Every papers have subtle difference in describing about this situation.
We couldn't see Mao talking about it in any sports news either. There were lots of news about Sumo and baseball yesterday. Faint2
Anyway, Mao is going to start new season with Sato-sensei and looks very calm with him. Go Mao! Cheering
