I think the part on one foot looked a bit shakier than in the practice video and there were one or two moments that looked weird-ish (then again, it could be the fault of the video quality), but that was probably because Mao started practicing the program only very recently. It think that, like with Ballade, this program will become better with practice. Smile

It irked me that the video was not in synch with the music - but as I said, better this than nothing Laugh

Aside from that I enjoyed the footwork - what I could see of it, at least. It is difficult to see Mao's feet and her face is totally invisible... I could mostly see just torso and arms, and it's difficult to judge footwork from that. Laugh

We can see Mao's step more clearly!
Thank you.

Because it is Schnittke, I did not expect Argentine Tango. But because it is Tango, I want more contrast between movement and stillness.
Now she just need more practice, I think.
We will be able to see an amazing program at the end of the season!

Thank you for the links everyone!!

I really like the spread eagle Mao does at the beginning of her step sequence. It's so wonderfully dramatic!

I love this program more and more everytime I watch it!

Thanks coconut! cheers

Wow, I loved the footwork! Many Hearts

It's too bad about the jumps, but it's early days and it's not competition lighting. But also, if it's true that she's skating faster, maybe that changes the timing of the jumps somewhat? Whatever the case, I suspect when you're working on something like this things have to get worse for awhile before they get better. But we know she has the mental toughness to handle it.

By the way, did I see Hongbo trip a little over Xue's skirt in the opening video? Laugh

yeah she is faster now, and i really hoped she improved this. About jumps, she is progressing like they said from the basement, i think she was insecure and nervous ,it was the firs time she performed this tango and in some point i thpught she was to go outside the rink, it was small like other shows.

and like many people said, the step secuence is awsome, i really want to see a HD video to see her expresion, fingers and more details that sure will make us care less by now about the jumps.

New video shot from different angle. Best video of the new Tango so far! Smile

I'm guessing that Mao had tried to jump all through the show according to the way Nagakubo had taught her to. Maybe that's why her jumps weren't stable yet. I hope she'll get better by Japan Open, but even if not, I'm going to try to be patient and wait until she masters all her corrected jumps which are going to be supposedly more speedy and have more flow. sunny

Has somebody already posted this link?:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK3YUaTTiTc

It's the opening of the show, along with congrads from all the guest skaters to S/Z including Mao. She recieved a large cheer of welcome from the audience it seems. Love

Congradulations from me too, S/Z! You are the perfect, beautiful and mature couple!
Thank you for always being nice to Mao and Japan! We admire and love both of you! Many Hearts

An interview from Sina
http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2010-09-05/12245186037.shtml
FW: People always compare you with Yuna Kim. How do you think about this?

Mao Asada:She is a great rivalry. Actually I should thank her for pushing me to improve and make me better.

FW: There are some people who think you are better than Yuna kim. But you lost to hre in Vancouver Olympic Games. How do you think about that result?

Mao Asada:It is really a difficult question. As to me, I would be satisfied as long as I could show my full strength in competitions.

FW: Do you have confidence to surpass Yuna Kim in next Olympic Games?

Mao Asada:It hasn't been too long before this Olympics ends. I haven't considered about the next one.

FW: Yuna kim split with her golden coach recently. It is said that you contacted this coach. Is it true?

Mao Asada: This is completely a rumor out of nothing. I was shocked when I first heard this.

FW: To some extend, isn't this(the split) a good news for you?

Mao Asada:It is common for skaters to leave their coaches and cooperate with new coaches. And this is their own decision. To me, the most important thing is how to improve myself.

Thanks for the interview, tianrushui. I can see this reporter was looking to stir some controversy from his questions, but Mao handled herself very maturely. Smile

Yes, I don't like his questions. Basically, most Chinese journalists don't know much about figure skating. So, I didn't expect them to have good questions. Rolling Eyes But I like mao's answers, especially the last one.

Thank you for the interview, tianrushui!

I agree, those were difficult and personal questions. But I'm really impressed with Mao's answers. I love it that she never reacts agressively but always responds in a gentle and classy manner. Thumbs up!

Thank you tianrushui! Thank you!
Some people have been asking me about this article, and how members here thought about it. Now I can answer them.

I personally thought it was a good thing that the reporters in China asked Mao these questions. Mao was able to make herself clear about the offer rumors, in a casual style rather than giving a formal statement on the matter. She simply answered becasue she was asked, so not many people would get the wrong impression that she is calling Yuna nor ATS liers.

All her answers concerning Yuna are mature and polite, so people will also understand that Mao has no hard feelings or bad intentions towards her. I hope some extreme Japanese fans will learn a thing or two from the way she dealt with these questions. IMO, they were the ones who were over-reacting about nothing when Yuna and Orser split; making too much a big deal about Yuna mentioning there were some issues concerning the offer matter in her statement.

I can understand that many people feel uneasy everytime they hear Mao's name in issues concerning Yuna. But they're the top 2 female skaters, so I think the media can't help writing and asking things about them. Mao has done nothing wrong so it's okay what they write or ask her. She will go on answering politely and maturely as she always does. Yep!
