Any news on Mao's LP costume?

I hope she keeps the same one she used in the GP series. It was a beautiful color with a simple design and intricate beading. (And no boob ruffles!!!)

This is what Mao's dress would look like without those Mad roses.

That'd perfect. Designers... Disappointed

Alyssa, removing those roses makes a world of difference to that dress - it looks hot! Razz Thing is, I reckon the roses wouldn't be so bad if they were...er, placed differently Too sweet! Maybe a single, big one on the back or something.

Congrats Mao to this performance ! I love to see her smiling again. That´s why I adore her so much ... because she moves on and grows personally even by going through difficult times. And how people handle setbacks, failings or losses really defines who they are.
I wish her good luck for the free.

By the way ... with or without roses - I like this dress more than the one she used before during NHK / TEB SP. Maybe the designers should have arranged those roses on the upper body in a different way (not that it looks like a bra) and less of them or even leave them away as alyssa suggested. But generally I prefer to see her with a little bit more colour and not only in black. That also goes better together with this kind of music I think.
It seems to be a little bit "maoish" to use slightly overdone costumes. She doesn´t need this at all, she is so pretty especially in simple dresses ... think of the gorgeous white one with no frills she recently wore during exhibitions.

Someone mentioned that they noticed Mao's increased speed, and I have to agree! I seemed to me that she was just flying across the ice—I noticed it especially going into the loop and the flip. I know it can be hard to judge these things from video, but that's my impression.

I'm not sure this program is at its full potential yet, but it was a giant step up from the Grand Prix, and I'm so proud of her! But I hope the pressure isn't too much for the LP now. I really want to see Liebestraum skated well. Smile

You know what, I think so too! There's more flow right now. But TBH, the step sequence felt slower and more cautious compared to what I'm used to seeing from Mao. Hmm...

Yes, the steps seemed slower. But I think her basic stroking must be improving. And she seems to be adjusting her jumps to match it...

Guys, I'm going to bed. She'll probably have already skated by the time I wake up, so I'll check your comments.
See ya. Too sweet!

Ok, I finally had a chance to watch the SP performances. flower

Arrow First, congrats to Mao for receiving level 4s for all her spins and getting full credit for her 3A! Thumbs up!

Arrow Second, those roses need to go!! Bad idea! But I really like her makeup. Our girl is so pretty, isn't she? Many Hearts

Arrow Third, I can't remember the last time that I've seen Mao skate with so much FLOW! In the 2008-09 season and especially the 2009-10 season, I felt like Mao would slow down and almost come to a stop before she jumped, in order to get the timing right, but here, for the first time, I felt like she was fully using her speed to help her jump. The entrance to the 3A and the 3F really reminded me of vintage Mao, in the way that she went for the jumps without any hesitation. That 3F was a thing of beauty, IMO! Bravo! flower

Arrow Fourth, unlike some of you, I didn't feel like Mao was slow in the step sequence, but the second part of it did seem a little more sloppy than usual--in particular, that switch-hand catch-foot twizzle. I didn't realize it until Arakawa-san pointed it out, but Mao does that first half of the step sequence all on her right foot--that's pretty amazing!! WOW! But really, I felt the flow.

And after the flip, I really felt like Mao was PRESENT in a way I haven't seen in a long time. Did you see that smile after she landed the flip? It was like, "I did it!" Confetti And from then on, I felt like she was really there, in the moment, living the performance. Sure, it wasn't perfect; sure, there is still stuff to polish, but for the first time in a long time, I felt like Mao was ENJOYING HERSELF out there on the rink. And that is definitely what I want to see most of all. Yep! So GO MAO!!! Cheering

SKATE YOUR HEART OUT TONIGHT!! Cheering

ETA Here are the protocols for the Ladies SP, but it's only in Japanese:

The free skate starts at 3:35pm Japan time, so a little under 5 hours from now. Smile

Mao's skating second in the final group:

19 Kanako MURAKAMI
20 Mao ASADA
21 Risa SHOJI
22 Fumie SUGURI
23 Miki ANDO
24 Yuki NISHINO

Akiko is the 14th skater (2nd in the 3rd group).

Hmm, and here I was thinking they'd put Mao last.... Neutral

While waiting for Mao's LP, I kept replaying Mao's SP, and true enough, as what most of you already pointed out, she really has so much flow in the ice, creating that slinky quality in her skating. Smile

Can't wait for her LP!!

Yes, I also notice that her stroking has improved. The way she moves on the ice has changed from last season. The way she flows kinda reminds me of when she was a junior, which is a good thing I remember it was Oscilla (I think) who said Mao's basics were excellent before her growth spurt. It's not surprising since Sato is known for great basics.

Approximately what time is the final group skating? I just want to estimate because it'll be really late here, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT TO MONITOR MAO NEWS!!!!!!

Also, if anyone has updates from Twitter or from other websites during the final practice sessions before the free skate, please post it!

I have been checking the forum over and over again to see if there are any updates. It's because I don't know a lot of the other websites that the members go to for updates, so I'm relying on this website solely. However, it seems like everyone is gone!
