Nothing really new ...

Thanks Clovera for the schedule.
I think one way to watch it will be on KeyHoleTV.
I don't know if I can wait for the broadcast ... I'll keep my figures crossed for Mao Smile

I wanted to send good vibes for her by watching it live. Neutral

I would say on 90% it was 3-3 and on 10% it was 3-3 with < Wink But maybe it was 3-2? Oh I don't know... It's really hard to say.

look at this: "Japan is loaded with top-notch skaters, but the bottom line is that Mao is Mao. It is her picture you see on TV, in magazines and in the trains around the country. It is no stretch to say that she has done for skating in Japan what Tiger Woods has done for golf in the U.S."

I still don't understand why he claims that Mao's line is a problem...She has one of the best lines out there today, only matched by Alissa and Carolina! :/

UGH...LIke Mao needs even more pressure! I hate Jack Galagher Snow Snow
I wish Mao didn't have to go through this, now it's clear for me that she'll be scrutinized by the media if she doesn't make it to the Worlds. Panic! Yep, Sadly Neutral

Jack Gallagher's articles always crack me up. Laugh Because he always writes the most random criticisms. Problem with skating line? Rolling Eyes I doubt he knows what that means. I guess it was nice of him to compare Mao's popularity in Japan to Woods' here. Although I am not sure it is actually good, since Woods has become a sort of a punchline after his scandals. Snow

I don't think it is enough, because Mao's been saying she has to be 100% ready before competitions if she wants to win, and thus she works so hard.

But, 70%-80% is much better than earlier this season. Mao revealed after NHK that she wasn't ready but she was almost 100% good at official practices to her surprise, and then at competitions she wasn't good.

I'm relieved to hear Mao saying it's about 70%-80% complete already. Changing forms/techniques is really a long journey. She embarked it this summer and restarted it from scratch with Mr. Sato, or even from minus because she had to deal with the influence of technique she learned from Mr. Nagakubo. It's wonderful and quite impressive that she has made a progress in such a short period of time.

I just want to see her lovely smile after SP and LP at Nationals.
I don't care results. I hope she will do her best and get good feedback from competitions for further progress.

Mao sure does like to use percentages a lot. But I'm not sure how we should take it. Before TEB she said she was near 100%, so I feel it's quite arbitrary. We can only assume she is making progress in her practices. At this point, I don't care about the results so much. Maybe that's why I'm feeling less anxious than usual. I do want Mao to do well because she can feel good about her progress but there's a part of me that almost wish she wouldn't go to Worlds this year. I know Mao says she thrives on competition but I feel she's pushing herself a lot this year when it might have been better to pace herself a little. I may be in the minority here but I really think Mao needs a long break where she can really work her basics and jump technique. I remember Sato saying that they are going in two routes simultaneously. One is to improve her basics but the other is to prepare for competitions. I can't help wonder if they just choose to focus on the path of improving her basics, it will help her more in the long run. Also, with each setback in competition, she takes a toll mentally. It may cause her to develop a big mental block that even when her technique becomes more stable, she is unable to perform to her potential. She already says that whenever she thinks about the jumps, she tenses up. I believe this tension she feels is clearly influenced by the immense pressure she feels from her federation and the media to peform to expectations. Crying or Very sad
